SCOUTING AN INTERNATIONAL YOUTH MOVEMENT
Scouting began in England in the year 1907 when Robert Baden-Powell started an experimental camp at Brownsea Island.
The Scout Movement in India was officially launched on 21st March 1917. A number of Scout Associations earlier to independence, such as “The Boy Scouts Association of India”, “The Indian Boy Scout Association”, “The Hindustan Scout Association”, “The Girls Guide Association of India” and “Seva Samiti Scout Association” who all agreed to merge and were signatories to the formation of the one united organisation called the Bharat Scouts and Guides of India, on 24th October 1950.
